Ridgeway Primary School

We are LEARNERS

Our Curriculum

At Team Ridgeway, we believe in lifelong learning and aim to equip all children for our ever-changing world by fostering a passion for learning, curiosity, and creativity. Our curriculum is designed to ignite curiosity, nurture growth, and inspire learning. We instil values and skills needed for life in modern Britain, with spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development underpinning all learning.

Our curriculum covers the National Curriculum through subject-specific blocks to reduce cognitive load. We provide opportunities to retrieve prior learning and extend knowledge across subjects. In all lessons, we encourage children to develop as independent and active learners.

Each school week includes 10 hours of afternoon sessions, aside from our Love of Reading time, broken down into PE, RE, Computing, MfL, retrieval sessions, and our Learners’ Celebration Assembly, with 5 hours dedicated to our subject of focus.

Our curriculum allows children to immerse themselves in specific disciplines, such as becoming historians, artists, and scientists, deepening their understanding and fostering a love for learning.

We have introduced knowledge organisers to help our children know and remember key information more effectively. We share these organisers with parents to help them support their child's educational journey at home, believing that collaboration between school and home will greatly benefit academic growth.
